Linda Lorraine Dalke Kirkpatrick

March 29, 1944 ~ July 20, 2019 (age 75)

Linda Lorraine Dalke Kirkpatrick, 75, formerly of South Gate, California, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 20, 2019.

Memorial services will be 5:00 P.M. Saturday, July 27, 2019 at Brooks Chapel. Arrangements are by Brooks Funeral Directors of Canyon.  A graveside service will be held on August 10th on Whidbey Island, WA.

Linda was born March 29, 1944 in Bell, California to Robert Alvin and Doris Hansen Dalke. She received a bachelor’s degree from UC Santa Barbara and became an elementary school teacher.  She spent several years teaching grades Kindergarten through Third. While in her 60’s, she returned back to school and accomplished a master’s degree. She finished off her teaching career working in the Magnolia School District in 2010.

Her love for dogs was evident in all the years she was a dedicated puppy raiser and leader for Guide Dogs for the Blind program in San Rafael. Linda was also involved with the Knots of Love organization, where she knitted caps for cancer patients.

She was a frequent guest of Disneyland throughout her life. Seeing all the children’s faces light up with happiness as they experienced Disney for the first time brought her great joy. She always loved to drive by the beach and stop to listen to the waves crash and see the sun set on the water. She made many drives down to Seal Beach just to see the ocean and the pier. She also loved to read a good mystery and color a complex mandala design to gift to someone.

Most of all, she loved her two children dearly. She was a loving and dedicated mother.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Doris Dalke.

Survivors include her daughter, Katie Kirkpatrick and husband, Blaine Burnett of Canyon; son, Justin Kirkpatrick and wife, Emily Meza of East Lansing, Michigan; three grandchildren, Stephanie, Cierra, and Sean; sister, Stephanie Williams and husband, Kent of Coupeville, Washington; and a niece, nephew, and cousins.

The family suggests that memorials be made to Knots of Love, 2973 Harbor Blvd. #822
