Obituary for Zella Mae Aiken
Zella Mae Aiken, 87, of Amarillo, passed away on Sunday, December 19, 2021.
Services will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, December 27, 2021 at New Life Church, 406 Pittsburg St, Amarillo, TX 79104, with Spike Maldonado, officiating. Graveside services will be at 1:00 P.m. at Dreamland Cemetery in Canyon. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Sunday, December 26 at Brooks Chapel.
Zella was born December 12, 1934 in Antlers, Oklahoma to Darvin and Lucy Albright Roden. She married Carl Jones on Valentine’s Day 37 years ago. Zella held many jobs throughout her lifetime. Working was something she loved to do.
Zella was funny and was everyone’s best friend. Taking care of her family was very important to her. She always made sure that everyone had what they needed no matter what.
She was preceded in death by her parents, daughters, Drenda Thompson and Brenda Joyce, brother-in-law, Willie Grace, son-in-law, David Thompson, granddaughter, Kassandra Garrett, aunt, Vera Roden and her Uncle T.
Survivors include her husband, Carl Jones; sister, Sue Grace; son-in-law, Jimmy Brown; children, Danny Waugh, MacKenzie Hodges, and Austin Hodges; eight grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; four great, great grandchildren, Jaxton Johnston, James Brown V, Boden Young, and Elizabeth Brown; and many more extended family members.
