Obituary for William 'Woody' Williams

William ‘Woody’ Williams, 74, of Canyon, passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2021. Memorial Services will be held at a later date.

Woody was born on December 11, 1946 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Blaine T. and Jean (Wood) Williams, Sr. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving as a medic during the Vietnam War. He held many job titles over the years and toward the end of his working career, he worked as a project manager.

Woody was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Canyon. He was an artist and taught for a time at Amarillo College. He greatly enjoyed the Farmer’s Market in Canyon where he ran the Smiling Coyote. He was also a sort of renaissance man and loved cooking for crowds.

Woody was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Martha Green and Joan Baileys. Survivors include his wife and companion of many years, Dyna Johnson; two brothers, Blaine Williams, Jr. of Austin and Thomas Williams of Lubbock; his brother-in-law and dearest friend, Jim Green; and a special nephew, Anson Baileys.
