Obituary for WILLIAM RODGER WOODALL

Graveside services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 11, 2017 in Dreamland Cemetery with Tracy Byrd officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Friday, February 10, 2017 at Brooks Chapel. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery. William Rodger Woodall was born on July 29, 1933 in Brady to Ted and Clara Werts Woodall. He attended Brady High School and joined the Army at 17. He served as an Army Medic during the Korean War. He met Judy Wallace in Colorado City and they married on October 20, 1956. She preceded him in death on July 21, 2012. Rodger worked in the grocery business for forty years in multiple cities in Texas, retiring in Canyon. He supported Judy in all of her endeavors in the Canyon community and was most recently active at Palo Duro Village. They loved to travel, especially following their grandchildren in their sports and music. His focus was always on his family and he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also loved music and collecting train and car memorabilia. He was a long time member of the First Baptist Church and was well known and loved at the local United deli. Rodger is preceded in death by his wife, a great grandson, Noah James Weisgerber, a sister, Tedris Woodall, and two brothers, George Woodall and Teddy Jo Woodall. Survivors include two daughters, Lisa Byrd and husband, Tracy, of Canyon and Dawn Horton of Andrews and her fiancé, Troy Smith, of Corsicana; four grandchildren, Rodger Horton and wife, Melanie, of Midland, Travis Horton and wife, Brianna, of Andrews, Shaina Weisgerber and husband, Nick, of Amarillo, and Staci Byrd of Wake Forest, NC; six great grandchildren, Lydia, Ava, Haylee, Travis, Ana, and Dorian; two brothers, Buddy Woodall and Jerry Woodall; and a sister, Annette Bryant. The family suggests memorials be to Palo Duro Retirement Village, #9 Hospital Dr., Canyon, TX 79015.
