Obituary for William DuBois "WD" Walker

William DuBois “WD” Walker, Jr., 93, of Canyon, passed away on Friday, December 20, 2019. Services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at Brooks Chapel with Rev. Rusty Dickerson, from Vernon, TX, officiating. Arrangements are by Brooks Funeral Directors. WD was born on April 1, 1926 to William and Gladys Walker in Hereford, TX. He joined the Navy in 1943, serving in the Pacific in World War II, and later graduated from Canyon High School. WD married Wilma Jean Dickerson on December 9, 1945 in Canyon. They were happily married for 71 years before Wilma’s passing in February 2017. WD was a self-employed paint contractor for much of his career, retiring from WT’s maintenance department in 1991. He was a member of the Canyon Volunteer Fire Department for many years and was active in the VFW. He grew up on a farm near Hereford. He loved horses. Black Beauty and Tony were two of his favorites. He enjoyed going horseback riding, especially in Palo Duro Canyon. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brother, Doug Walker. Survivors include daughters, Judy Ward and Pat Foard and husband Don; son, Dub Walker and wife Shelly; grandchildren, Julie, Bryan, Andrew, and Sarah; and great-grandson, Brighton.
