Memorial services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church of Lockney. Private Interment will be in Lockney Cemetery. W. L. Thomas, Jr. was born on September 6, 1921 to William Lucian and Lucy Ann Casey Thomas. He graduated from Lockney High School in 1939. He married Dorothy Belle Rodgers on July 3, 1949, and she preceded him in death on June 24, 1992. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force and was a member of the VFW. He was also a member of the American Legion, Lockney Senior Citizens, Lockney Roping and Riding Association, and a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church of Lockney. He was also preceded in death by his parents, a son, James Dale Thomas, a brother, Ernest Lee Thomas, and two sisters, Mary Grubbs and Ermine Johnson. Survivors include two daughters, Brenda Jo Thomas, of Canyon, and Judith Ann Nelson and husband, Dennis, of Spearman; his son, Billy Arnold Thomas and wife, Barbara, of Pampa; one daughter-in-law, Janie Thomas, of Amarillo; one sister, Meda Ruth Watts, of Granbury; sister-in-law, Midge Adams, of Amarillo; seven grandchildren, Kim Kennedy and husband, Doug, Kevin Nelson and wife, Ginger, Kyla Sell and husband, Tom, Brent Thomas, Brian Thomas, Clint Thomas and wife, Sarah, and Grayson Edds and husband, Tyson; and fourteen great grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to the First United Methodist Church of Lockeny, 120 W. Poplar, Lockney, TX 79241.
