Obituary for W. LOWELL HILL

Services will be at 2:00 P.M. Friday, April 4, 2008 at Church of Christ at the Colonies with Dick Marcear, minister, officiating. Graveside services will be conducted by Canyon City Masonic Lodge #730 at Dreamland Cemetery. W. Lowell Hill was born on October 7, 1933 in Ralph Switch to Wilbur and Florence Adcock Hill. In 1952, he graduated from Canyon High School. He also graduated from West Texas State College in 1956, and then attended Texas Tech University. He married Reva O. Clay on April 30, 1960 at the J. A. Hill Chapel. Lowell served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Canyon City Masonic Lodge #730. In 1959, he began working for J. I. Case Implement Company. He was awarded Manager of the Year in 1984. After retiring from J. I. Case Implement Company he continued to be very active in farming and ranching. He was a Charter member of the Church of Christ at the Colonies. He was quoted in the "Eagles Tale" column in high school that his ambition in life was to be a grandpa. He was "the best grandpa." He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Reva Hill, of the Home; son, Tom Hill and wife, Lisa, of Amarillo; two daughters, Julia Stewart and husband, Greg, of Niwot, CO, Janet Mercer and husband, Jeff, of Lubbock; two sisters, Jean Cavitt and husband, Garland, of Amarillo, Mary Ruth Dowell Fansler, of Dumas; eight grandchildren, Danita Wallick and husband, Dan, Lorna Bogan and husband, Rory, Jarod Stewart, Meagan, Caitlyn, and Ryan Mercer, and Shelby and Sara Hill. He was also loved by his nieces, nephews, special friends, and in-laws. The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity.
