Obituary for W. O. GESTES

Services will be at 9:30 A.M. on Thursday, September 13, 2007 at the Wayside Community Church with Rev. Byron Williamson of Wayside Community Church and Troy Richardson of Temple Baptist Church of Amarillo officiating. Burial will follow at Wayside Cemetery. W. O. Gestes, Jr. was born on December 24, 1929 in Sayre, Oklahoma to William and Ora Lee Nichols Gestes. He married Mary Polasek at Lorenzo, Texas in 1954. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving in the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Wayside Community Church and Lions Club of Plainview. He was active in South Plains Boy Scout Council and a member of the Order of Arrow for the Boy Scouts of America. He was owner and operator of Gestes Plumbing of Plainview and headed the plumbing department at Wayland Baptist University. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Thomas, Harold, and J. M. Gestes. Survivors include his wife, Mary of the home; two daughters, Cindy Gestes of Wayside, and Terry Scroggins and husband, Kent of Wayside; grandson, Will Scroggins and wife, Alyssa of Amarillo; granddaughter, Katie Jo Pate and husband, C.J. of Dalhart; five great grandchildren, Halie, Korbin, Kacey, Seth, and Brecken; two brothers, Jackie Gestes, and Johnny Gestes both of Lorenzo, TX; and sister, Ann Parchman of Grand Prairie, TX. The family suggests memorials be to Wayside Cemetery Association, American Diabetes Association, or American Kidney Foundation.
