Obituary for Vanda Paris

Vanda Paris, 81, of Amarillo, passed away on Monday, June 21, 2021. Services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 24, 2021 at Brooks Chapel with Bill Gruhlkey officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at Brooks Chapel.

Vanda was born on September 2, 1939 in Tulia to Fred and Lorean (Jones) Latham. She started first grade in West Texas State Teachers College and graduated from Canyon High School. She received her Bachelor of Education degree from West Texas State University and taught in multiple schools, the majority of which were in Amarillo. She also spent many years in the real estate business in Canyon with her son and grandson. Vanda enjoyed crossword puzzles, traveling, and a good cup of coffee, but her greatest joy was her grandchildren. She was a longtime member of First Methodist Church of Canyon where she was active in the Crusaders Sunday School Class.

Vanda was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her son, Kyle Paris and wife, Mayla of Amarillo; three grandchildren, Colt Paris and wife, Catie of Canyon, Dr. Creed Paris and wife, Lauren of Galveston, and Cutter Paris and wife, Halie of College Station; four great-grandchildren, Rollins, Able, Haddon, and Brooklyn, with another one on the way; niece, Pam Jackson and husband, Ron of Granbury; and special friends, Lynda and Michael Tinsley of Amarillo.
