Tommy John Allen, 68, of Canyon, passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2019. Memorial services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, May 13, 2019 at Brooks Chapel with Rev. Steve Olsen, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Brooks Funeral Directors. Tommy was born on January 1, 1951 in Post, Texas to Dick and Mohoto Allen. He received an associate’s degree in electronics from Amarillo College. On December 12, 1987, he married Suzanne Jones at the First Baptist Church in Canyon. Tommy loved being a husband and dad. He was the most excellent "Poppy" to all his grandchildren.  He was an avid animal lover and a skilled wood carver. He worked as a department manager at Walmart. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Suzanne Allen; three children, Courtney Plotts and husband Arthur, Cassie Foster and husband Justin, and Brandon Allen; eight grandchildren, Claira and Charlotte Plotts, Kaylee, Ben, and Joy Foster, Kaylynn, Avra, and Braelynn Allen; brother, John Hendrick; and a sister, Marilynn Rasmussen. The family suggests memorials be made to the Salvation Army, PO Box 2490, Amarillo, TX 79105 or to the High Plains Food Bank, 815 Ross St., Amarillo, TX 79102.
