Obituary for TOM C. GOOCH

Canyon - Tom C. Gooch, 95, died November 20, 2002 in Amarillo. Services will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Canyon with Rev. David Lowrie and Dr. Strauss Atkinson, officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery. Mr. Gooch was born December 13, 1906 in Wilbarger County at the family farm north of Vernon. Mr. Gooch was a farmer-stockman in Randall county since 1935 and was a hard working successful member of the Jowell community. Mr. Gooch served on the Randall Co. Farm Bureau and the Consumers Co-op Board of Directors. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and served as a deacon for several years. He was a member of the R.N.&O. sunday school class and served as the class secretary for over 20 yrs. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred of 63 years and his parents, borthers and sisters. Survivors include one daughter, Frances Gooch Peggram (Billy Joe) of Wiggins, Colo. One son, Tommy Gooch (Sarah Jane) of Canyon. Five grandsons, Walter Gooch of Carrollton, Tx, Edgar Gooch of Canyon, Bill Peggram (Karen) of Chatanooga, Tenn., Tim Peggram (Eileen) of Wiggins, Colo., Jody Peggram, Woodstock, GA. One granddaughter, Linda Peggram Epple (Rodney) of Wiggins, Colo. And twelve great grandchildren. The family will be receiving at Brooks Funeral Home between 5 - 7:00 p.m. Friday evening. The family suggests memorials be made to the charity of your choice or to BSA Hospice of Amarillo, Senior Citizens of Canyon or to the First Baptist Church of Canyon.
