Obituary for THELMA LEE DENNY

Graveside service will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday, June 22, 2004 at Wayside Cemetery with Rev. Kyle Brock officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:30-7:30 on Monday evening, June 21, 2004 at Brooks Chapel in Canyon. She will be buried in Wayside Cemetery. Thelma Lee Denny was born on September 23, 1917 to Arrie and Fannie Stevens. She graduated from Panhandle High School and attended West Texas Normal for two years. In 1937 Thelma married George Denny in Clovis, New Mexico. She and George moved to the Wayside Community in 1940, where she helped George with the farming and ranching, and she was a homemaker, and mother. She was a life time resident of Wayside and was actively involved in the community, serving as a postmaster and also teaching Sunday school. Thelma was a loving mother, grandmother, and neighbor and she loved her yard. She is preceded in death by her husband in 1999, her son Mike Denny in 1964, and three sisters, Viola Buster, Olene Orr, and Eunice Hankins. Survivors include her daughter, Mary Kate McLain, of Happy; one brother, Clifford Stevens, of Happy; one sister, Beatrice Davis, of San Antonio, TX; two grandchildren, Neki Jones, of Rancho San Margarute, CA, and Denny McLain, of Parker, CO; and two great grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Wayside Emergency Team P.O. Box 131 Wayside, TX 79094, or BSA Hospice P.O. Box 950 Amarillo, Texas.
