Obituary for SPENCER WALTER BLAKE

Private family graveside services were held August 4, 2011 at Memory Gardens in Amarillo, Texas. Spencer Walter Blake was born on April 15, 1926 in Union City, Oklahoma to John Arthur and Annie Mae Smith Blake. He graduated from Capital Hill High School in Oklahoma City and attended Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee. He was a Pentecostal preacher from 1948 to 1961. Spencer owned a commercial boot and shoe business and was known to many as the "Redwing Boot Man." He traveled Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Colorado. He also enjoyed collecting Hudson cars. He was a member of Trinity Fellowship Church and S.A.L.T. Sunday School class. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, nine siblings, and his first wife, who was the mother of his children, Mildred Blake in March 2010. He is survived by Steve Blake, of Amarillo, Paul Blake, of Canyon, Susan Blake-Caldwell, of Canyon, six Grandchildren and eight Great Grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be sent to the Building Fund at Trinity Fellowship, 5000 Hollywood Road, Amarillo, Texas 79110 or to Hospice of the Southwest, 1301 Coulter Suite 404, Amarillo, Texas 79106.
