Services will be 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at Brooks Chapel with Robert Field, retired Baptist Minister, officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Samuel L. Floyd, Jr. peacefully entered Heaven"s rest on July 23, 2007. Sam was 89 years of age at the time of his passing. Sam was born in York, Pennsylvania on May 2, 1918 and moved to Canyon during the 80"s construction boom working in the Canyon/Amarillo area for a short time as a carpenter prior to his retirement. Sam honorably served his country as a guard over prisoners of war with the U.S. Army during WWII. Sam is preceded in death by his two sons, William Floyd of York, PA, and Kenneth Floyd of Midland, TX and his daughter in law, Joyce Floyd of Midland, Texas. Sam is survived by his wife of 68 years, Sarah Jessie (Cummings) Floyd of Canyon, TX; three daughters, Sandra L Floyd of York, PA, Nancy L. Taylor, and Sarah Jane Floyd, both of Canyon, TX; daughter in law, Gloria Floyd of York, PA and numerous grandchildren.
