Obituary for Rolland Royce Buhrkuhl
Rolland Royce Buhrkuhl, 84, of Canyon, passed away on Monday, November 7, 2022.
Services will be 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at Living Water Christian Fellowship Church with Kristopher Hogue, officiating. Burial will be at Dreamland Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 11 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Brooks Chapel.
Rolland was born February 12, 1938 in Dexter, NM to Albert and Elsie (Ehresman) Buhrkuhl. Rolland received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from West Texas State University and was a member of the ROTC while attending WT.
On January 2, 1958, he married Elizabeth Ann Brooks in Plainview, Texas. He and Elizabeth were longtime residents of Canyon.
Rolland passed his CPA exam in 1976 and has worked as a CPA ever since. He was a 50-year member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He was also a member of the Panhandle Chapter of TSCPA and the Shriners. He served as one of the founding members of the Oriental Band in Amarillo. Rolland was also a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason.
Rolland was a veteran of the Army, where he served in the finance corp.
He was NEVER without a joke for his clients or anyone he met. His business was his passion, and he went above and beyond for his clients.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, his two brothers, and a son-in-law, Kent Johnson.
Survivors include his son, David R. “Randy” Buhrkuhl, RN; daughter, Susan Buhrkuhl-Johnson; grandchildren, Sean Johnson and James Johnson; and his caretaker, Dawn Hopkins.
The family suggests memorials be made to The Canyon City Masonic Lodge No. 730, 909 9th Ave, Canyon, TX 79015 or to the Khiva Shrine Patient Transportation Fund, PO Box 328, Amarillo, TX 79105.
