Roland Haney, 85, of Canyon, passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2020.
Private graveside services will be held at Dreamland Cemetery in Canyon. Due to public circumstances, a memorial service will be held at a later date.
Roland Haney was born in Choctaw County, Alabama on October 4, 1934 to William Lafayette and Dora Ann (Carney) Haney. His parents passed away when he was a baby and he was raised by an aunt and uncle. Roland served in the U.S. Army for two years; serving in Italy during that time. He was still in the Reserves in 1958, when he met Loretta Babb, and the two were married. As does anyone who feels completely unworthy, Roland wrestled with the call on his life to preach, but he answered in obedience. The couple attended the Apostolic Faith Bible College in Baxter Springs, Kansas. They spent more than fifty years pastoring churches in Mississippi, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas, and moved to Canyon in recent years.
Roland is survived by his wife of 61 years, Loretta; son, Marty (Sandy) Haney of Canyon, TX; son, Warren (Robyn) Haney of Bella Vista, AR; granddaughter, Allison Rodgers of Stanton, TX; grandson, Steven (Lauren) Haney of Belton, TX; granddaughter, Olivia (Jared) Gilbert of Midlothian, TX; granddaughter, Sharon (Aaron) Anderson of Canyon, TX; grandson, Ethan (Lindsey) Haney of Catesby, OK; and ten great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Faith Community Church, 2706 4th Ave., Canyon, TX 79015 or to the Apostolic Faith Bible College, PO Box 110, Baxter Springs, KS 66713.
