Obituary for ROBERT R. MICKEY

Services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, May 6 at the University Church of Christ with David Lough and Bob Shepard, officiating. Graveside services will be 3:30 P.M. Thursday, May 6 at Channing Cemetery. Robert Richard Mickey was born November 30, 1928 in Floyd County, Texas to John and Eva Mickey. He graduated from West Texas State and attended Texas Tech University and New Mexico State. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in the Korean War, and was a recon photographer in Vietnam and Cambodia. On April 18, 1957, he married Mildred Hunnicutt. For several years Bob was the Principal in Channing, and he also worked as the Superintendent in Mobeetie for some time. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, LouAnne Northcutt; and a brother, Mark Mickey. Survivors include his wife, Mildred, of the home; son, Kelley, of Canyon; daughter, Robin Ferro, of Plano; two grandsons, Matt and Jay Northcutt; three brothers, Kenneth, of Grand Junction, Colorado, Don, of Canyon, and Gene, of East Jordan, Michigan; and by two sisters, Mary Demus, of Canyon, and JoAnn Mickey, of Florida. The family suggests memorials to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, P.O. Box 50610, Amarillo, TX 79159 or to the Channing Cemetery Association.
