Obituary for ROBERT 'BOB' MCDONALD

Services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, March 27, 2017 at the First Methodist Church of Happy with Rev. Tom Stribling, pastor, officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. on Sunday, March 26, 2017 at Happy’s Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in Happy Cemetery, Happy, Texas. Robert "Bob" Watson McDonald was born on June 9, 1936 in Canyon to Oscar and Willie Mae Cook McDonald. He farmed and ranched in Texas and New Mexico. He married Linda Ratjen in Salem Community, Tulia, Texas on January 20, 1956. He was a member of the First Methodist Church of Happy where he gave Christian testimony. He had served as Chairman of the Board of Directors / Admin. Council and Trustee for his church. He taught Sunday School, was youth leader and was a member of the church Building Committee. Bob was president of his class and FFA, was voted ‘class favorite’, Mr. Personality, and was elected to attend the Personality Ball at WT. He served as an officer of the Booster Club, was a Scout Master, 4-H leader, a Master Mason, and a member of the Scottish Rite. He also loved baseball and golf. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Keene McDonald. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Linda, of the home; two sons, Ronnie McDonald and wife, Kathy of Happy and David McDonald and wife, Cindy of McLean; and two grandchildren, Matt McDonald and Victoria Cothrin and husband, Travis.
