Obituary for RICHARD K. SPEAR

Services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, August 20, 2004 at the First Baptist Church of Happy with Rev. Paul Burwash, pastor, and Rev. Steve Vernon officiating. Burial will be in Happy Cemetery. Richard Keith Spear was born on May 22, 1954 in Albuquerque, NM. He moved to Happy in 1960 where he and his two sisters, Nina and Kay, had the good fortune of being adopted by Ray and Fern Spear. Rick graduated from Happy High School in 1972 and attended West Texas State University and Cal-Poly University. He went to the Navy in 1974 and served until 1979. He learned his trade of electronics in the Navy and currently worked for Serv. Mart, Inc. out of Dallas, Texas. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Happy. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Nina Faye Bush, in 2001. Survivors include his wife, Ella, of the home; one son, Nicholas Ray Spear, of Happy; two daughters, Barbara Lynn Spear, Nichole Renee Spear, both of Albuquerque, NM; two step sons, Pete Brown, of Iowa Park, and Jeff Brown, and wife, Renee, of Canyon; the mother of his children, Grace Mary Spear, of Albuquerque; sister, Kay Bryant, of Amarillo; brother, Danny Hopkins, of Dallas; two half brohters, Lance and Vance Hopkins, of Dallas; half sister, Palee Hopkins, of Louisiana; two grandchildren, Maci Jade Brown and Codi Beth Brown, of Canyon; special nephew, Casey Bates, and wife, Shelly, of Amarillo; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family suggests memorials be to their favorite charity.
