Obituary for Richard C. Bowers

Richard C. Bowers, 71, of Canyon, passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2023. Private family services will be held.

Richard was born on July 7, 1951 in Enid, Oklahoma. He was a 1969 graduate of Enid High School and continued his education, receiving a number of degrees: his Master’s and Ph.D. of Education in Administration from Nova Southeastern University, Master of Education in Counseling from River College, Master of Education in Administration from River College, Bachelor and Master of Music from Oklahoma City University, and his Ph.D. in Aesthetics from the University of Texas at Dallas.

Richard married D’Aun Revel on December 17, 1978. He was Principal and Fine Arts Department Chair at Evanston Township High School from 1994 until 2010 when he retired. He was a lifelong learner who, even in retirement, earned his paralegal certificate. He was also an educator and collector of African art.

Richard and D’Aun moved to Canyon in 2011. He was a member of the Randall County Historic Commission and the Panhandle Plains Historical Museum.

Survivors include his wife, D’Aun Bowers; his children, Robert Bowers, Matt Bowers, Karyssa Walsh, and Court Bowers; four granddaughters; and one grandson.
