Obituary for Rhonda Weatherly
Rhonda Weatherly, 66, of Amarillo, passed away on Friday, January 28, 2022. Services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at the University Church of Christ with Bob Shepard officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Monday, January 31, 2022 at Brooks Chapel.
Rhonda was born on March 27, 1955 in Canyon to Richmond and Mary Jo (Tomlinson) Hales. She was a graduate of Canyon High School and received her Bachelor of Consumer Science degree from Abilene Christian University. After graduation, she married Steve Weatherly in Canyon. Rhonda taught at Canyon, Amarillo, and Hereford. She was a long-time member of the Central Church of Christ in Amarillo. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, knitting, and sewing and loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Rhonda was preceded in death by her father, Richmond Hales, and a daughter, Kandace Weatherly, in 1983. Survivors include her husband, Steve Weatherly; her daughter, Katrina Lopez and husband, Isaac; two grandchildren, Jaydan and Aria Lopez; her mother, Mary Jo Hales; and two brothers, Rick Hales and wife, Stephanie and Rodney Hales and wife, Swany.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be to High Plains Children’s Home, PO Box 7448, Amarillo, Texas 79114 or to the Church of Christ Bible Chair, 3400 Conner Dr., Canyon, Texas 79015.
