Obituary for PRENTICE THOMAS

Services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, March 6, 2017 at Brooks Chapel with Dr. Paul Richardson, pastor of Rockwell Road Baptist Church, officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 4:00 P.M. on Sunday, March 5, 2017 at Brooks Chapel. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery. Prentice Thomas was born on May 7, 1946 in Amhurst, Texas to J. M. and Zelma Campbell Thomas. He graduated from Odessa High School and received his Bachelor of Math and Science degree from West Texas State University. He married Marilyn Baker at the J. A. Hill Chapel at WT in 1968. Prentice was a chemist for Good Pasture in Dimmitt and then Cargill Meat Solutions in Friona, retiring in 2009. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Dimmitt and was currently an active member of Rockwell Road Baptist Church. He enjoyed camping, wood working and being ornery, and he also loved his family. Prentice was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Nora, in 1949, and a son, Mickey Thomas, in 1982. Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Thomas; his son, Shawn Thomas and wife, Tara, of Canyon; his daughter, Heather Wood and husband, Clint, of Pampa; four grandchildren, Matthew and Carson Thomas and Aubrey and Trace Thomas; and one great grandchild, Ava Thomas. The family suggests memorials be to the Rockwell Road Baptist Church, Feed the Children, PO Box 31495, Amarillo, TX 79120.
