Obituary for PEGGY WHITE

Services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, July 12, 2008 at the University of Church Christ in Canyon with David Lough, minister, officiating. Interment will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Amarillo. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Friday, July 11, 2008 at Brooks Chapel. Peggy was born on September 28, 1942 in Canyon to Clarence and Myrtle Leavitt. She graduated from Happy High School and then attended West Texas State University, where she received her degree in Elementary Education. She married George White on November 25, 1966. She taught school for several years before they started their family. She returned to teaching in 1982 at the University Church of Christ as a pre-school teacher until she retired in 2002. She and her husband loved to go fishing, camping, and traveling. They were fortunate to travel to all but 8 of the 50 states, Canada and Mexico. Peggy is survived by her husband, George White, of the home; two sons, Todd White and friend, Connie, of Amarillo, Troy White, of Amarillo; a grandson, Brandon White, of Amarillo; two brothers, Loyd Leavitt and wife, Omega, of Happy, David Leavitt and wife, Judy, of Tulia; an uncle, Pete Leavitt and wife, Odessa, of Happy; two aunts, Mildred Leavitt, of Canyon, Mabel Sims, of Happy; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the High Plains Children"s Home, P.O. Box 7448, Amarillo, TX 79114; Panhandle Cancer Care Foundation, 1000 S.
