Obituary for PEARL MYRTICE WOOD

Services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at Brooks Chapel, with Silas Gartin and Dan Wisecup officiating. Graveside Services will be at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday at Plainview Cemetery in Plainview, Texas. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Brooks Chapel. Pearl Myrtice Wood was born on January 1, 1921 in Alleene, Arkansas to Marion and Thelma Reed Owens. She married Preston Wood, Sr. on November 26, 1937, and he preceded her in death in 1951. She was a bookkeeper at Hamby Farm Implement Company in Plainview (for 18 years) then moved to Canyon in 1979. She enjoyed quilting and crafts and owned Pearl Wood Crafts. Pearl was a member of the Non Denominational Church. She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Diana, and three brothers. Survivors include four daughters, Thelma Price and husband, Doyle of Gladstone, NM, Lou Dougherty and husband, Cecil, of Happy, Deanie Lundy and husband, Larry, of Edgewood, NM, and Judy Moore and husband, Ronnie, of Canyon; one son, Preston Wood, Jr., and wife, Janey of Springer, NM; thirteen grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren; two brothers, Ray Owens and Coy Owens of Sulphur Springs; and two sisters, Bernice Fitzgerald, of Sulphur Springs and Agnes Ables, of Tyler. The family suggests memorials be to Hospice Care of the Southwest,1301 S. Coulter Ste. 404, Amarillo, Texas 79106.
