Obituary for PAULINE RUSHING MYERS

Services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, June 18, 2004 at the First United Methodist Church of Canyon with Rev. Clark Williams, pastor, officiating. Family visitation will be Thursday, June 17 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Brooks Chapel in Canyon. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery. Pauline "Bobbye" Rushing Myers, 98, of Canyon passed away at home on June 14, 2004 in the care of her family. She was born on May 9, 1906 in Floydada to Suzie and Sherman Rushing. As a young lady, Bobbye taught Sunday School in the Rushing Chapel that her family built on their property. Bobbye attended McMurry Academy, which her father helped found. Bobbye also attended Texas Tech for two years. Bobbye came to Canyon to visit her sister, Tommie Pierce, where she met and fell in love with Elias Merton "Mutt" Myers. They were married in Tulia, Texas on September 8, 1935. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary prior to his death in 1991. Bobbye was active in the Murry Bible Class and the Moss Richardson Circle at the First United Methodist Church. Bobbye has spent the golden years of her life lavishing love on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She always found great joy in the "little ones". Survivors include two sons, Al Rushing Myers, and wife Mary Rose, of Groom, and Elo Merton Myers, and wife, Sharyn, of The Woodlands; one daughter, Barbara Kay Buster, and husband, Harry, of Canyon; six grandchildren, Laura Kuehler, and husband, Ron, of Groom, Rick Buster, and wife, Pat, of Dalhart, Paula Hands, and husband, Robert, of Amarillo, Jeff Buster, and friend, Caroline Todd, of Abuquerque, NM, Dena Wigglesworth, and husband, Keith, of Magnolia, and Eric Myers, and wife, Dayna, of Houston; twelve great grandchildren, Lauren Kuehler, Alex Kuehler, MaKayla Buster, Kaleigh Hands, Holly Hands, Lisa Hands, Jacob Hands, Marti Hands, Andrew Hands, Thomas Hands, Annie Hands, and Kaylan Wigglesworth; and several nieces and nephews, Joe Rushing, Andrew Moremen, Mary Mayfield, Alice Pierce Kenmore, Frankie Pace, Dorothy Poe, and Lula Lee Golightly.
