Obituary for Pattye Louise Hopkins

Pattye Louise Hopkins, 94, of Canyon, passed away on Wednesday, August 12, 2020. Memorial services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 15, 2020 at the First United Methodist Church in Canyon with Rev. Rick Enns officiating, assisted by Roman Asbill.

Pattye was born on June 24, 1926 in Claude to Edwin and Edwina Arthur Hollingshead. She graduated from Pampa High School in 1944 and then went to California to work in the defense plants during WWII. On January 6, 1946, she married James Carroll ‘J.C.’ Hopkins in Pampa. They were part owners of Roberta’s Flowers in Pampa for 38 years where she was bookkeeper and salesperson. They retired in 1991 and moved to Marble Falls in 1992. She moved to Canyon in 2014 and loved living at Palo Duro Village. She was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Pattye lived a very full and unique life. She loved anything on the water and enjoyed a motorcycle ride on her 89th birthday. She loved football and baseball and was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers, Dallas Cowboys, and the Texas Rangers. She also enjoyed cooking, crossword puzzles and family holidays. Pattye especially loved her two granddaughters and seven great grandchildren and will be lovingly remembered for her upbeat and positive attitude and her sweet and spunky spirit.

Pattye was preceded in death by her husband, J.C. on February 28, 2008, after 62 years of marriage, a son, David Lee Hopkins, in 1981, and her sister, Dorothy Shelton. Survivors include her son, Eddy Hopkins and wife, Nola, of Canyon; two granddaughters, Angela Carole Asbill and husband, Roman, of Canyon, and Heather Amy Adams and husband, Andrew, of Lubbock; and seven great-grandchildren, Josiah, Judah, and Jacob Asbill and Caleb, Atticus, Lulu, and Sawyer Adams.
