Services will be at 2:00 PM on Thursday, January 8, 2004 at the United Methodist Church of Wayside. Burial will be in Wayside Cemetery. Mrs. McGehee was born on October 18, 1909 in Appleton, Arkansas. She moved to Texas in 1923 and graduated from Tulia High School. She attended West Texas State College and taught school for nine years. She married Melton H. McGehee on December 20, 1934. He preceded her in death on 1998. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Wayside where she served as treasurer for twenty-five years. She was an active member of the Texas Home Demonstration Association and served as its president from 1962 to 1964. She was the Safety Chairman in the National Extension Homemakers Association for three years and was presented the Texas Panhandle Award for Distinguished Service in 1977 presented by West Texas State University. Survivors include one son, Harvey De McGehee, of Lubbock, Texas; sister, Louise Davis, of Seal Beach, CA; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
