Obituary for NORA ELLA GERALD

Memorial services will be at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, April 2, 2012 at Brooks Chapel in Canyon with Rev. Davis B. Price, pastor of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Lubbock, officiating. Private Burial will be at Dreamland Cemetery. Nora was born Feb 10th 1922, to Arthur Jackson Wiser, and, Nora Ella Teague Wiser, in Cottage Grove Oregon. She married Charles Edward Gerald, of Canyon TX, on December 11th 1943. Together they celebrated sixty one years of marriage before his death, in 2004. The youngest of four children Nora was predeceased by her three older siblings, Elva (Jimmy), Naomi, and, Elze (Waymon). Shortly after the death of her birth mother, when Nora was just a newborn, she was welcomed into the home of her mother"s sister Flora, and her husband Ole Christensen, whom she loved as her parents. Her adopted mother died when Nora was fourteen years old. Her adopted father made it possible for her to attend, and graduate from the University of Portland with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. After passing her state board exams, Nora became licensed as a registered nurse. After reaching legal age, she changed her last name to Christensen to honor her adoptive father. Her life was lived as a loving wife, and mother to five children. Initially the family lived on a dairy farm, and then moved to Canyon Texas. Her family was precious to her, she was its defender, protector, and role model. She served the Lord, with gladness and thanksgiving through her gifts of care-giving, hospitality and compassion for others. She delighted in travel, fishing (especially when she out fished her husband!) and following her children and grandchildren"s interest in sports, cheerleading, and the visual and performing arts. She took great pride in their participation, and dedication to the activities they loved. She was the very heartbeat of the family which she bound together with unconditional love. Nora is survived by five children, ten grandchildren, and, eighteen great grandchildren. Her descendants are, Janet Gerald Price and her husband Davis B Price of Lubbock Texas.
