Services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 4, 2006 at the United Methodist Church of Happy. There will be a visitation on Tuesday, January 3, 2006 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Happy"s Memorial Chapel in Happy. Burial will be at Happy Cemetery, Happy, Texas. Mildred L. Fields was born on December 8, 1915 in Amarillo to Ernest and Sally Mashburn. She lived in the Amarillo - Happy area her entire life and graduated from Happy High School. She married Bruce Fields in 1935 and they moved to the Arney community where she started her life as a farm and ranch wife. They moved to Canyon in 1982 and Bruce preceded her in death soon after. Mildred became a staunch follower of the Lady Buff Basketball team and followed them loyally until health problems caused her to be unable to attend the games. Survivors include one son, Bruce "Vonnie" Fields and wife, Anne of Canyon; grandson, Scott Fields and wife, Katrina of Happy; great grandchildren, Charlie, Lucy, and Gus Fields. She is also survived by nieces and cousins in the Panhandle area. The family requests memorials be sent to Lady Buff Basketball % Pam Bentley, #3 Bogey Circle, Canyon, Texas.
