Obituary for Mickey R. Crawford

Mickey R. Crawford, 72, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, died on March 9, 2024, surrounded by family and friends and his beloved dachshund, Jack. “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7

Mickey was born on December 12, 1951 to Earl and Greta Crawford in Springfield, Colorado. After graduating from Caprock High School, he was drafted into the U.S. Army.

Eventually he found his love for his lifelong work – being a proud union Boilermaker, which meant a lot of traveling to various power plants and refineries across the country. He also taught welding to others for a few summers at SPS. His travels allowed him to do what he loved and support his family, and gave us lots of wonderful stories and jokes over the years.

Mickey was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Canyon. He was confirmed and welcomed into the Catholic faith during Easter of 2009.

Mickey married Robin Conrad on August 8, 1981 and they were blessed with four children. They were meant to be together and were true soulmates and best friends.

Mickey was a hard-working father and husband, often giving everything he could to help his children and work on the house they called home. He loved restoring and working on his old trucks and taking care of the yard and flowers. There is no part of his home that he didn’t touch and improve.

Mickey imparted invaluable life lessons and created lasting memories with his family. His dedication to his loved ones and kindness to strangers knew no bounds. Mickey welcomed everyone who walked into our home as part of the family.

Mickey was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Claude and Billy, and his sisters, Eunice and Mildred. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Robin, and their children, Nathan Crawford, Drew and Courtney Crawford, Spencer Crawford and fiancée, Maritza Mendoza, and Caitlin and Gong Tiasawad, bonus children Sara and Aaron Rhynes, his cherished grandchildren Alexis, Diego, Ethan, Brandon, Wyatt, Nolan, Emma, Julia, Sawyer, Rowan, Ella and Liam. He is also survived by his brother Iman and wife, Martha, brother Norman and wife, Mary, many nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, and in-laws.

Mickey's legacy will be remembered and cherished by all who knew him. May his spirit live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

His family would like to express their gratitude and thanks for all of the prayers and support they have received from so many people, BSA nurses and doctors, and the Hospice care team.

The vigil will be held at Brooks Chapel on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at 6:00 P.M. The funeral mass will be held at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Canyon at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, March 14, 2024 with Father Scott Raef as celebrant.

As Mickey would say, “Have a great day.”
