Obituary for Mickey Jobe Abbott

Mickey Jobe Abbott, 74, of Canyon, passed away on Friday, May 26, 2023.
Services will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at University Church of Christ with David Lough, Bob Shepard, and Jonathan Page officiating. Burial will be at Dreamland Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 30, from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M. at Brooks Chapel. Mickey's service will be livestreamed at ucccanyon.org/livestream and on the University Church of Christ, Canyon YouTube and Facebook pages.

Mickey was born April 12, 1949 in Amarillo, Texas to Ferrell and Oleta (Tinnin) Abbott. He proudly served in the Air Force.

Mickey was a skilled woodworker and craftsman who took great pride in his work. He and his brother, Randy, were co-owners of Palo Verde Custom Cabinets, Inc.

He was a member of the University Church of Christ.

Mickey was an avid Bass fisherman. He donated a 13.38-pound bass fish to the Texas ShareLunker Program which earned him a lifetime fishing license. He also enjoyed grilling and smoking all kinds of meat.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ferrell and Oleta Abbott, his son, Bryan Abbott, his grandson, Nicholas Harley Abbott, and his sister, Freida Gist.

Survivors include his brother, Ted Abbott and wife, Kitty of Addy, WA; sister, Patricia Abbott of Canyon; brother, Randy Abbott and wife, Janet of Canyon; brother-in-law, Roger B. Gist III; numerous nieces and nephews; and lots and lots of GREAT fishing buddies!
