Obituary for Mickey Hathaway

Mickey Hathaway, 81, of Canyon, passed away on Sunday, December 5, 2021.

Services will be 1:30 P.M. Saturday, December 11, 2021 at Freedom Fellowship Church with Darren Dye, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Dreamland Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 10 from 5:30 to 7:00 P.M. at Brooks Chapel.

Mickey was born April 3, 1940 to Edd and Dollie Smallen Hathaway in Avery, TX. He graduated from Dimmitt High School and attended Texas A&M University. He married Becky Clawson on June 29, 1984 at the First Baptist Church in Canyon.

Mickey taught auto mechanics at Canyon High School for 37 years. He was the creator of the program and the designer of the school shop.

He was an ordained deacon and a member of Freedom Fellowship Church. He was a faithful Christ follower always sharing God’s word with others. He was known as a spiritual and prayer warrior.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edd and Dollie Mae Hathaway, and a brother, Gary Hathaway.

Survivors include his wife, Becky; four children, Vicki Hathaway, Tharen Hathaway, Amanda Hathaway Lunsford, and Christa Hathaway; three grandchildren, Marsh, Alaina, and Reece; and two great grandchildren, Sage and Asher.
