Obituary for Michael Jay "Golden Boy" Sexton

Michael Jay Sexton “Golden Boy,” 49, of Canyon passed away on Monday, October 28, 2019 after a heroic battle against cancer. He died on his terms. Services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, November 2, 2019 at the Church of Christ in Happy. Burial will follow in Happy Cemetery. Please dress in casual attire for Michael’s services per his family’s request.  The family will receive friends on Friday, November 1, 2019 from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. at Brooks Chapel in Canyon. Michael was born on August 27, 1970 to Larry and Vicky Sexton in Perryton, Texas. At the age of 18, he began working in the cell phone industry. He held many titles while in the industry but retired as a project manager. He was President of the Jeep Club and served as a trail guide for many Jeep events. Michael was a scuba diver, master sky diver, a Kansas City Certified BBQ Judge and a gourmet coffee maker in training. He was also an excellent marksman, a great mechanic and he had a wicked sense of humor. He was preceded in death by his mother, Vicky Sexton on September 19, 2019 and grandparents, J.B. and Leola Sexton, Charles Roberts and Jewel Foehser. Survivors include his father, Larry Sexton; two sisters, Melissa Mason, Melinda Frye and husband Greg; four nieces and a nephew, Justin Frye, Berkley Thomas, Marley, Micah, and Maggie Mason; two great nieces; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Gerson Institute, www.gerson.org.
