Obituary for Michael Kingston Crouch

Michael Kingston Crouch, 74, of Canyon, passed away on Friday, December 29, 2023. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, January 5, 2023 at the First Baptist Church of Tulia with Pastor Randy Wade, nephew, officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service, from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. at the church.

Michael was born on February 20, 1949 in Plainview to Kingston and Virginia Elizabeth (Hawthorne) Crouch. He was a 1969 graduate of Tulia High School and attended Wayland Baptist University in Plainview before enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War Era and served as a Worldwide Locator in San Diego, CA as an E-5 Sergeant and was honorably discharged in 1973.

Mike met Becki Norwood 50 years ago on December 3, 1973 on Dip Street in Tulia through friends and they married on Valentine’s Day in 1976 at the First Baptist Church of Tulia. They spent 27 years in San Antonio where Mike was manager of several jewelry stores in the Fine Jewelers Guild Division of the Zales Corporation. In 2006, they moved back to the panhandle, and in 2016 they made their home in Canyon.

Having grown up around cars when his dad owned K Crouch Autos in Tulia, Mike had a passion for cars and loved going to car shows. He loved his family dearly and Uncle Mike and Aunt Becki’s house was always a place for fun.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Becki Crouch of the home; his daughter, Shanda Rae Hall and husband, Jon of Alabama; granddaughter, Julie Hall of Alabama; two sisters, Anita Kay Wagner of Lubbock and Patricia Gail Tidwell and husband, David of Amarillo; nephews, Jeff and wife, Kim Wagner of Lubbock, Dennis Wagner of Dallas, niece, Jenny Peek of Lubbock, and nephews, Ken Peek of Virginia, Michael Wayne Peek and wife Liz of Washington State, niece Miel Fajen and husband Brett of New York, nephew Danny Norwood, niece Marlo Wade and husband Randy of Kaufman, TX, nephew Steven Latham and wife Diana of Lubbock, nephew Matthew Grabbe and wife Cortney of Cross Plains, TX, nephew Jayson Grabbe and wife Kendra of Lubbock; numerous precious great nieces and nephews; and two great-great nephews of San Antonio.
