Obituary for MAYME LOU NANCE HARP

Mayme Lou Nance Harp, 87, of Livermore, California, formerly of Canyon, died peacefully on Monday, October 24, 2011 in Livermore, California. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, October 31, 2011 at Dreamland Cemetery. Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, October 31, 2011 at First Presbyterian Church of Canyon, with Dr. James Glasscock officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. on Sunday, October 30, 2011 at Brooks Chapel. Mrs. Harp was born August 19, 1924 at home in the Lone Star Community north of Lockney, TX to Wiley and Lula Nance. She was the second of eight children. She graduated from Silverton High School in 1941. Mayme married J.T. Harp on March 12, 1952. They lived in Canyon, TX, Albuquerque, NM, Las Vegas, NV, Los Alamos, NM and Livermore, CA. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Livermore, CA. Mayme was a wonderful, witty story teller and would captivate everyone with her attention to detail and her Texas drawl. She was extremely proud of her children and grandchildren; they will all carry precious memories of her with them. Mayme lived a long and full life and will always be remembered for living without regrets. She will be dearly missed by all of her family and friends. We are thankful and blessed to have shared so many wonderful and unforgettable years and memories with her. She made it a priority to keep in touch with friends she made throughout her life. She was a fun and caring aunt to her many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1991, a sister Marie Henderson and a brother, Jim Nance. Survivors include a son James Wiley Harp and wife Becky of Canyon, a daughter Susan Peterson and husband Kirk of Santa Fe, NM, a son Steve Harp and wife Jennifer of Boalsburg, PA, and a daughter Karen Walker and husband Rob of Livermore, CA. She has four grandsons, Jason Harp and wife Melissa of Idaho Falls, ID, Mathew Harp and Bethany Adamonis of New York City, NY, Kameron and Ross Peterson of Las Cruces, NM. She has five granddaughters, Casey Romero and husband Jason of Santa Fe, NM, Erica Harp of Washington, DC, Haley Harp of Canyon, TX and Kimberly and Alison Walker of Livermore, CA. She had one great-grandson, Tiger Romero of Santa Fe, NM. One sister Bobbie Nance of Denver, CO, four brothers, Wiley "Bud" Nance and wife Lorraine of San Angelo, TX, Tom Nance and wife Mary of Brownwood, TX, Joe Nance and wife Peggy, of Plainview, TX and Mike Nance and wife Brenda of Midland TX and sister in-law Nelda Nance of Midland, TX and numerous nieces and nephews.
