Services will be 3:00 P.M. Saturday, May 3, 2008 at Brooks Chapel with Rev. Davis B. Price, pastor of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Lubbock, officiating. Interment is at Dreamland Cemetery. Mattie Ruth Robinson was born September 20, 1922 to Charles and Novvie Bryant Devenport at Clarendon, TX. She married Edgar Robinson in 1940 at Canyon. He preceded her in death in 2003. Mattie was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Eastern Star. She was a homemaker, a beautician, and she loved painting china. Mattie Ruth was a fiercely independent woman that loved life, friends, community, and church. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Charlene Huggins and Verna Bailey. Survivors of Mattie Ruth include two daughters, Pattie McNicoll and husband, Roger, of Flagstaff, AZ, Jean Fedigan, of Tucson, AZ; four grandchildren, John and Mike Druke, Bryanee Shearl, and Rob Burris; eight great grandchildren; two sisters, Katie Stone, of Canyon, Margaret Maddox, of Silver Springs, Nevada; two brothers, Edwin "Pug" Devenport, of Canyon, Farrell Devenport, of Lubbock. The family requests that memorials be made to Dreamland Cemetery, P.O. Box 38 Canyon, TX 79015.
