Obituary for MARY CATHERINE COFFMAN TODD

Services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, December 18, 2003 at Mescalero Baptist Church with Kevin Oakley, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at 3:00 PM Thursday in Stratford Cemetery, Stratford, Texas. Mrs. Todd will lie in state at N. S. Griggs & Sons in Amarillo. Mary Catherine Williams Coffman Todd was born on a farm near Bushland on December 4, 1932 to Mary Eleanor Brice Williams and Clay Gecovey Williams. She and her family moved to the Spurlock Community in Sherman County in 1938. She attended Spurlock schools in grades 1, 3 and 4. In 1942 schools in Sherman County consolidated and she attended Stratford schools and graduated in 1950. She married Roy Harvey "Bud" Coffman on November 4, 1950. He preceded her in death. They moved to Highmore, South Dakota in 1951 and then moved back to Stratford in 1954. She moved to Amarillo in 1972 and was employed at K-Mart and then worked at Pantex until her retirement in 1996. She married Charles Todd on May 16, 1980. He preceded her in death on July 21, 1999. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Clay Gecovey "Sonny" Williams, and one sister, Cynthia Miley. She was a 4-H Gold Star Girl, a member of Retired Pantexans, Mescalero Baptist Church, and participated in singing groups from First Free Will Baptist, Bethel Assembly Church, Grace Fellowship, Tradewinds Assembly of God Church, and HOOTS (Harmonica Organization of Texas). Survivors include a best friend and companion, Ernie Collins; two daughters, Sallie Deon Coffman, of Amarillo and Karen Marie Lake, and husband, Nathan, of Texas City, Texas; one son, William Hardy Coffman, and wife, Keva, of Canyon; sister, Christine Claughton, and husband, J.C., of Amarillo; sister-in-law, Lois "Teen" Cooper; seven grandchilden, Brandon Roberts,and wife Krisy, of Amarillo, Erin Nemoede, and husband, Jason, of Amarillo, Hubbal, Gecovey, Hunter, Keevan, and Thea Coffman, all of Canyon; three great grandchildren, Alexis Nemoede, Cutter Roberts, and Jordan Morris; step daughters, Barbara Jean Stark, Karen Lee Smith, Sharon Rae Carter; and one step son, Eddie Wayne Todd The family suggests memorials be to Baptist St. Anthony"s Hospice PO Box 950 Amarillo, Texas 79176, or Mescelero Baptist Church, 13330 Mescelero Trail, Amarillo, Texas 79118.
