Obituary for MARY THERESA AVERBECK FRIEMEL

Services will be AT 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at St. Mary"s Catholic Church in Umbarger with Rev. George Kalampatt and Rev. Scott Raef, minister of St. Thomas Catholic Church, officiating. A Rosary will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Monday, July 16, 2012 at Brooks Chapel with Deacon Bill Dorsey officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary"s Catholic Cemetery, Umbarger, Texas. Mary Theresa Averbeck Friemel was born on October 28, 1932 to Joseph and Lucy Averbeck. She married Richard Dennis Friemel on May 2, 1958. She graduated from St. Mary"s Academy, attended West Texas College and graduated from Amarillo College as a Licensed Vocational Nurse. After graduation, she worked for several years at St. Anthony"s Hospital in surgery, then worked with an ear, nose, and throat surgeon. She was a member of St. Mary"s of Umbarger Alter Society and served eight years on the council of Economics Affairs at St. Mary"s Church. She was awarded Region I Conservation Homemaker, top 51 counties and was awarded Palo Duro Conservation Homemaker. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Henry Joseph Averbeck, and her stepmother, Paula. Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Richard D. Friemel; seven children, Stephen M. Friemel and wife, Renee, James E. Friemel, and wife, Melanie, Monica M. Wilhelm and husband, Tim, Denise K. Schenk and husband, Kevin, Frederick J. Friemel and wife, Alecia, Grace C. Hilliard and husband, Damon, and Stan P. Friemel and wife, Kelly; 26 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and a sister, Brigitta Averbeck. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 3102 Maple Avenue, Suite 120, Dallas, TX 75201, or the Alzheimer"s Association, 2200 W. 7th, Amarillo, TX 79106, and do a kind deed for someone in need.
