Obituary for MARY LEE COX

Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 22, 2007, at Brooks Chapel with Bob Thomas, Chaplain at Odyssey Healthcare, officiating. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday at Castro County Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Dimmitt. The family will receive friends on Sunday October 21, 2007 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Brooks Chapel. Mary Lee Cox was born on November 18, 1926, one of six children, in Gorree, TX to Albert and Leland Murray. She married James Walter Cox on May 18, 1947. He preceded her in death on June 26, 1981. She moved to Canyon in 1961 and worked for eighteen years at the WTSU food service. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the First Baptist Church of Canyon. She was also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Bill, Charles, and Albert Wesley, Jr., one sister, Doris Murdock, and one great granddaughter, Nora Ramos. Survivors include a sister, Jeanette Higgins and husband, Bob of Lubbock; a sister-in-law, Norma Murray, of Littlefield; two daughters, Ann Caraway and husband, Bob, of Canyon, and Pat Plunkett and husband, Doug, of Kermit; four wonderful grandchildren, Eddie Caraway, of Canyon, Christi Ramos and husband, Cesar, of Canyon, Cristi Romine and husband, Tony, of Wink, and Donnie Plunkett and wife, Pat, of Arlington; six precious great grand children, Bailey Caraway, Sarah, Ana, and Elena Ramos, Kristopher Plunkett, and Lexie Romine; and numerous nieces and nephews.
