The family moved to Amarillo in 1940 where Ceil Staples graduated from Amarillo High School. She married Bob Bellah of Canyon on December 30, 1941. For nearly 30 years she lived as a homemaker in Canyon, raising four children while her husband, Bob, operated Bellah"s Grocery on the Canyon square. Ceil and Bob moved to Phoenix in 1969 where Bob began a second career as a real estate agent/broker and Ceil created and interior decorating business. The Bellahs retired to Ruidoso, New Mexico in 1988, and, when Ceil"s health deteriorated, moved to Lubbock in 1991. For the last five years Ceil and Bob have played a central part in the life of Shadow Hills Retirement Village in Lubbock. Ceil Bellah was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society"s Road to Recovery where she arranged rides for cancer patients seeking treatment. In addition, and even when crippled with arthritis, she was known for sending frequent handwritten notes of encouragement to friends, children and grandchildren. Mrs. Bellah was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, William and Ed Staples, and a daughter, D"Lynne Bellah Stone of Chandler, Arizona. Survivors include her husband, Bob, of the home; three sons, Bob Bellah and wife, Adriana, of Ransom Canyon, Rev. Craig Bellah and wife, Patti, of Tempe, Arizona, and Dr. Mike Bellah and wife, Charlotte, of Canyon. In addition, she leaves behind 14 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to the American Cancer Society in Lubbock or Hidden Falls Ranch in Wayside.
