Obituary for MARTIN HERRMANN Jr.

Memorial Services will be at 11:00 AM on Monday, September 8, 2003 at Grace Baptist Church with Rev. Gordon Cox, pastor, and Shane Niece officiating. Burial will be at 10:00 AM at Dreamland Cemetery. Mr. Herrmann was born on April 4, 1927 at New Haven, Connecticut to Martin and Marion A???ReisingA??? Herrmann, Sr. He graduated from St. Francis High School in New Haven. He lived in Guilford, Connecticut and was employed for forty-three years by Southern Connecticut Gas Company before moving to Canyon in 1993. He married Bonnie Wieck at Canyon in 1998. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, serving during WWII. He was a member of Supervisory Development Program for Utilities from 1971 to 1973 and served as president of the International Management Council of New Haven from 1976 to 1977. He was awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Energy Theft, the Certificate of Award in Management in 1971, the New Haven International Management Council Award in Techniques of Speaking, and in 1999, he was given the Certificate of Appreciation from Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Kathleen Doherty Herrmann in 1997 and one brother, Robert Herrmann, in 1984. Survivors include his wife, Bonnie, of the home; two daughters, Carolann Fosse, of Southington, CT, and Sharon Engstrom, of West Haven, CT; one son, Martin E. Herrmann, III, of Amarillo; one step-daughter, Wanda Gibson, of Copeland, KS; two step-sons, Ken Wilhelm, of Plainview, and Michael Wilhelm, of Amarillo; one sister, Carol Connolley, of Oakland, CA; nine grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to the American Cancer Society, 3915 Bell Street, Amarillo, Texas 79109.
