Obituary for MARTHA HAMMOND WARREN

Services will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday, October 22 at Brooks Chapel with Alan Williamson, Chaplain at Park Central Community, officiating. Burial will follow at Dreamland Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday from 9:00 A.M. until the service begins. Martha was born on February 27, 1927 in Tulia to John and Florence Hammond. She received a bachelors degree in Home Economics from West Texas State College. She married Bernard Warren at the First Baptist Church of Canyon on August 26, 1947. They were longtime members of the First Baptist Church until they moved to Amarillo in 2001 and became members at the First Baptist Church of Amarillo. She was also a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority at W.T. and the P.E.O. Sisterhood. Martha loved to entertain. She also loved playing bridge. She made a career out of raising a family. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2008, a son, Richard Bryce Warren and an older sister, Beulah Bible. Survivors include a son, John A. Warren, of Longview; three granddaughters, Dr. Sarah Chaumette, of Orange, CA, Rachel Dixon and husband, Tony, of Conifer, CO, and Lydia Warren, of Oregon; and two great grandsons, Trenton and Tate Dixon. The family suggests memorials to the Bernard and Martha Warren Memorial Scholarship Fund at Opportunity Plan, PO Box 1035, Canyon, TX 79015.
