Obituary for MARILYN CROSS MAYNARD

Graveside services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, November 28, 2016 at Darrouzett Cemetery in Darrouzett, Texas with Rev. Scott Richards, pastor of Booker United Methodist Church, officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. on Sunday, November 27, 2016 at Brooks Chapel in Canyon. Marilyn Maynard was born on June 13, 1941 in Shattuck, Oklahoma to Merle and Velma Cross. She graduated from Darrouzett High School in 1959. She then graduated from West Texas State University with a Special Education major and was a member of Alpha Delta Pi. She married Kenneth Maynard in 1963 and taught school in Tulia and Canyon. She served as the program director for the Amarillo State Center and retired in 1998. Marilyn loved collecting antique books, china painting, geneology, and spending time with family. She was preceded in death by her parents and her cousin, Dannelle Rogers. Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Maynard, of Canyon; her son, Scott Maynard of Canyon and beloved grandson, Cadence Maynard; her daughter, Wendy Shaheen and husband, Louis of Granbury; two brothers, Steve Cross and wife, Suellen and Larry Cross and wife, Delores.
