Obituary for MARIE HUKILL DILWORTH

Graveside services will be at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, December 5 at Llano Cemetery, 2900 S. Hayes, Amarillo, TX 79103. Memorial services will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, December 5 at Brooks Chapel with Dr. Jim Bankhead, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Amarillo, officiating. Marie Dilworth, age 81, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 1, 2009 in Mustang, Oklahoma. She was born July 25, 1928 in Amherst, Texas to Charlie and Pearl Jones, the eighth of nine children. She married Noland Hukill in 1947 and they lived on the family's farm near Fieldton, Texas after his return from World War II. They were married 22 years until his death in 1969. She became an RN and worked for St. Anthony's Hospital in Amarillo, Texas for many years. Later she was one of the founding mothers of hospice, appointed as Coordinator of Patient Services for St. Anthony's Hospice, the first hospice in Amarillo, now known as BSA Hospice. Sister Olivia Prendergast called Marie the most zealous of them all, one of ""Sister Olivia's Angels"" and noted with Marie in charge of care, new life was restored. She married William (Bill) Dilworth in 1980 and they enjoyed 27 years of marriage until his death in 2007. Marie excelled at everything she did, from cooking to oil painting and quilting, having won a blue ribbon for one of her beautiful quilts at the Texas State Fair. She was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church in Canyon, Texas and leaves many friends there. Most recently she lived at Arbor House Assisted Living Center in Mustang, OK, where she made many new friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Noland Hukill, Bill Dilworth; siblings Herman, Andrew, W. T., Ervin and Adron Jones and Wilma Broaddus. She leaves fond memories with her sons, Gary Hukill & wife Linda of Mustang, Oklahoma; Gordon Hukill of Yukon, Oklahoma; grandson, Clint Hukill, wife Cheryl; great grandsons Colton and Christian Hukill of Canyon, TX; sisters Mattie Jones of Littlefield, TX; Billie Jean Hays of Reno, NV; stepdaughters Patricia Warren, Kathy Warner and Teresa Hanson of the Dallas area and their families, step-grandchildren Kevin Jones and Shelli Jones of OK and their families and a host of nieces and nephews.
