Obituary for Marian Hand

Marian Hand, 94, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away on September 21, 2019 in Canyon, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at Brooks Chapel with the Rev. Rick Enns officiating.  Burial will follow at Dreamland Cemetery.  Marian Hazel Ross Hand was born in Bakersfield, California to Andrew and Hattie Gertrude Ross on April 27, 1925.  She married George S. Hand on May 5, 1945 in Los Angeles, California.  She worked as a P-38 fuselage inspector for Lockheed Martin during WWII, a secretary for Crowe-Gulde and a keypunch operator at West Texas State College.  She was a dedicated wife, compassionate mother, and kind-hearted grandmother who found great joy in tending to her family, friends, and animals of all kinds.  Marian was also an avid gardener who enjoyed canning, baking and sharing the fruits of her labor with others. Marian is preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, George S. Hand, her parents and 3 brothers and 5 sisters. Marian is survived by son Robert Hand and his wife Janet of Canyon, TX, 2 daughters Linda Caufman of Leonard, Texas and Janie Jones of Amarillo, Texas, and 5 grandchildren Jeff Hand, Misty Miller, Julie Winter, Heather Moore, and Heath Moore and 8 great-grandchildren Jared Miller, Hannah Miller, Lane Miller, George Winter, Hattie Winter, Kayden Jones, Justus Lewis, and Hadlee Moore. Pallbearers will be Jeff Hand, Heath Moore, Will Miller, Jared Miller, Lane Miller, Kayden Jones, Justus Lewis, and George Winter. Memorials may be given to BSA Hospice of the Southwest. The family of Marian wishes to extend our sincere thanks to hospice angels Pam Ruckman and Mildred Rugger for their kindness and compassion.
