Obituary for Marcel Edwin "M.E." Rhoads

Graveside services will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, May 18, 2018 at Dreamland Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 17 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Brooks Chapel. Arrangements are by Brooks Funeral Directors. Born April 30, 1928, in Canyon, TX to Bertha Rhoads and was a life-long resident of Canyon.  He died May 14, 2018. He began working at the age of 13 for Johnny McBroom’s Service Station and Cole & Moore.  He graduated from Canyon High School in 1946. He went to work for Southwestern Public Service in 1948 as a lineman and retired after 42 years of service in 1990.  He served the community as a member of the Canyon Volunteer Fire Department from 1966-1984. He met and married the love of his life, Edna Mae (Camp) in 1967. They were happily married and remained faithfully at each other’s side until her death in August 2016. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed spending summers camping in his RV in Colorado with his wife.  He was also very generous and valued life experience and education. He was responsible for funding college educations for his grands and great-grands. He was preceded in death by his mother Bertha, half sister Margaret Cole, brother in law Levi Cole, half-sister Lois Lintner and husband Bob, daughter in law Nancy Camp.  He is survived by step son Louis Camp of Canyon, granddaughters Lisa Auston and husband Mark of Canyon, Susan Camp of Denver, CO, and Donna Agee and husband Todd of Canyon and 9 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. He was the best Peepaw there ever was. No one could have done it better! In lieu of flowers, please make donations to - Canyon Fire Dept, P.O. Box 98, Canyon, TX 79015.
