Obituary for MABLE ANDERSON

Services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at First United Methodist Church of Canyon with Rev. Kevin Deckard, associate pastor of Polk Street United Methodist Church of Amarillo and Rev. Rick Enns, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Canyon officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 3, 2011 at Corley Funeral Home in Corsicana, Texas from 6:30 to 8:00 P.M. Graveside services will be at 11:30 A.M. on Friday, November 4, 2011 at Birdston Cemetery in Streetman, Texas. Mable Massey Anderson, better known as "D", finished her full life on earth on Monday, October 31, 2011. Born on July 13, 1925 to John and Letha Massey in Winkler, Texas. She lived in Spur, Texas with her beloved Aunt Jenny and Uncle Steve where she graduated from high school. D married the love of her life, Garth T. Anderson in May of 1948. He preceded her in death after 50 years of marriage. D completed an LVN course at Amarillo College. She was one of the first nurses to work when the Elizabeth Jane Bivins home became a nursing home. She was also one of the first hospice nurses at the then St. Anthony"s Hospice. She loved being a nurse but gave it up to devote time to her granddaughters. D was also preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Beth, her parents, a sister, Mary, of Corsicana, and a brother, H.L., of Lubbock. D is survived by a daughter, Jane Anderson King and husband, Joe, of Canyon; three granddaughters, Kristin L. Gerber and husband Carson, Kyla L. King, and Kayla L. Canales and husband, Morgan; she delighted in her first great granddaughter, Deandra Canales; she has one loving sister, Freddie Finley, of Corsicana; three brothers, Harold and Johnny Massey, of Fairfield, and R.E. Massey, of Corpus Christi; and a whole host of "damn Kings" as she lovingly referred to her son-in-law"s extended family; and her faithful dog, "Lady". The family suggests memorials to Baptist St. Anthony"s Hospice, PO Box 950, Amarillo, TX 79176, or to the Building Fund at First United Methodist Church, 1818 4th Avenue, Canyon, TX 79015.
