Obituary for LYLA GAY HAMILTON

Services will be 2:00 P.M. on Friday, February 19, 2010 at the First Street Church of Christ in Dumas with Brent Clark, minister, and Jonathan Zerby, minister of Sunray Church of Christ, officiating. Interment will be at Northlawn Memorial Gardens. Lyla will lie in state at Morrison"s Funeral Home in Dumas. Lyla Gay Hamilton was born on November 15, 1941 in Koshkonong, Missouri to Ovel and Pauline Williams Lewis. She moved to Dumas in 1959 and graduated from Dumas High School. She married William Hamilton on June 30, 1960 in Dumas. She worked as the Office Manager at Cactus Elementary School for twenty-three years. Lyla was a member of Lubbock Christian University Associates and First Street Church of Christ, and she loved reading and garage sales. She was preceded in death by her father, Ovel, in 1972 and her mother, Pauline, in 2008. Survivors include two daughters, Brenda Johnson and husband, Steve, of Hewitt, and Paula Gross and husband, Troy, of Dumas; two sons, Kent Hamilton and wife, Tanya, of Chicago, and Chris Hamilton and wife, Nancy, of Dumas; a sister, Lana G. Kerbow and husband, Stephen, of Uvalde; six grandchildren, Kristene Blanco and husband, Aaron, Tommy Johnson, Mitchell Hamilton, Nicholas Hamilton, John Gross, and Jeffery Gross; one great granddaughter, Abigail Grace Blanco; and a nephew, Paul Lewis Kerbow and wife, Katherine, of San Antonio. The family suggests memorials be to The Refuge, 1009 S. Maddox, Dumas, Texas 79029.
