Services will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 9, 2003 at the First Assembly of God Church in Canyon, Texas with Rev. Hurlan Summers and Rev. Charity Harris officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery. Mrs. Lester was born on October 4, 1915 in Slidell, Texas to Odie Pior and Mae (Glance) Pior. She married A.J. A???BuddyA??? Pettit on May 30, 1934 in Pettit, Texas. He preceded her in death in 1979. On August 18, 1982 she was married to Glen H. Lester in Plainview, Texas. He preceded her in death in 1998. She was an ordained minister in the Assemblies of God for 55 years. She pioneered a church in Plains, Texas and pastored in Canyon for 28 years and later in Briscoe, Texas . She was a member of Trinity Temple Assembly of God in Artisia. Survivors include one son, Dwayne Pettit, and wife, Jeannette, of Dallas; one daughter, Gaylene Burgess, and husband, Robert, of Artesia, NM; two step-daughters, Carolyn Coburn, and husband, Paul, of Pottsboro, and Beverly Cranston, of Lewisville, TX; three sisters, Katherine Adcock, of Levelland, Monnie Franklin, and husband, Frank, of Granbury, and Genevieve Vela, and husband, Paul, of Bay City, Texas; one brother, Odem Pior, and wife, Evelyn, of Puyallup, Washington; five grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and one step-grandchild.
