Lou Baker, 86, of Canyon, passed away on Thursday, December 16, 2021.
Services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, December 20, 2021 at University Church of Christ with David Lough and Bob Shepard, officiating. Burial will follow at Dreamland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Sunday, December 19 at Brooks Chapel.
Lou was born September 29, 1935 in Newgulf, Texas to Alfred Bryan and Estalene Hopkins French. She graduated with a degree in business administration from Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos.
She married Elon Baker on December 8, 1956 in San Marcos and they moved to Canyon in 1968. He preceded her in death on December 20, 2008. She and Elon spent many years working together for the TEXAS production.
She worked for the First National Bank of Canyon and then retired as one of the Vice Presidents of Wells Fargo. She was also a homemaker who enjoyed cooking and baking for her family. She loved traveling to the mountains of New Mexico and Colorado with her family to camp and ski. She also enjoyed researching her families genealogy. Reading was one of Lou’s favorite pastimes and volunteering at the Canyon Library.
She was a member of the University Church of Christ.
Lou was also preceded in death by her parents and six siblings. She was the last of seven children to pass.
Survivors include her two sons, Harley Baker and wife Darla, Barry Baker and wife Cindy; and a granddaughter, Becky Baker, all of Canyon.
